你好！我是楊竣銘，現在就讀香港大學，主修社會科學。中學畢業於國際文憑課程，當中我最有興趣的科目是英文以及Theory of Knowledge (TOK）。 我本身已有大約一年做補習老師的經驗，包括教授小學功課班，DSE英文專科的個別授課。當中，我主力教導學生應考英文 ‘閱讀’卷一 以及 ‘聆聽’卷三。 至於我教導學生會著重的地方，我認為學生是要在課堂上多發言，才能夠展現自己對內容的了解及可進步的地方。亦能夠提升學生的學習興趣。例如，如果學生不知道 “agriculture” 是什麼意思，我不會立即為他們翻譯，反而會叫他們判斷詞語的詞性，再與他們溝通解決題目的方法。即使我為學生翻譯了整篇文章，他們仍然不會知道如何應付下一篇卷一文章。無論是在補習班或學校課堂上，學習是一個涉及導師以及學生交流的過程，而學生的參與，是與老師的教導一樣重要。通過這個教學方法，學生是能夠以自己的能力來完成題目，而不需要我提供答案。 Hello! I’m Jeremy Yeung Chun Ming, and I'm now enrolled in the University of Hong Kong, studying Social Sciences. I graduated from the IB programme, and my favourite subjects were English and Theory of Knowledge. As of now, I already have about a year's experience of tutoring. I taught both homework courses for primary students as well as DSE English one-on-one classes. I mainly taught students on how to handle Paper 1 “reading"and Paper 2“listening". Speaking on my philosophy as a teacher, I believe that the key to ensuring a student's success is their input in class. Aside from being able to complete questions correctly, students should be encouraged to voice out their thoughts regarding how to tackle a question or a text, and relate them to their experiences in the subject. As an example, if a student doesn't know what “agriculture" means, I would ask them to evaluate which“type of speech” it is, and communicate with them on how to tackle the question even without knowing what the word itself means. This way, students will have to face questions while at their current ability. Even if I translated the entire text of a ‘Paper 1' to them, it does not mean that their English ability or vocabulary has increased, nor does it mean they would be able to understand the next Paper 1 text they come across. Whether it's in a tutorial session or in the school classroom, I believe learning is a process that involves interactions between both teacher and student, and the input of the student matters equally to that of the teacher.

I’m an English Language and Literature tutor, specialising in analytical writing. I achieved a perfect 20/20 for my IB English Language and Literature Paper 1 unseen analysis, and I help students develop clear, high-scoring analysis as well as exam-ready writing skills. I also support students in crafting insightful arguments about literary texts. I’m available to tutor students of all ages and levels.
